Keep your soul, mind and body healthy series

Our bodies are very important.  It’s what we live in…and because of the importance, our bodies should be treated right.  Now I’m not going to go into bible scriptures about how we should keep our bodies pure because well, I’m not, but I will give you 3 tips of things you can do to help keep your bodies healthy.


  • Drink water. I know that you hear this all the time but drink water.  It’s really important because most of our body is made up of water. Different ways you can drink water…you can put fruit in it, you can put lemons in it, you can drink it plain…however you like it, make sure that you drink water.

  • Exercise/Stay active. This is also what you hear all the time but stay active.  The more active you are, the longer you will live, and the healthier your body will be.  We should be taking care of our bodies so that we can live longer.  Think about it, we only have this one body, so why wouldn’t you want to take care of it?

  • Pamper your body. This is so important too.   A lot of times, we keep going, and we never stop to just take care of ourselves. One way to do this is by doing a manicure or pedicure.  Another way of pampering yourself is by taking a bath, or watching a movie and relaxing.

    These ideas are just some ways on how you can take care of your body. Just take one day out of the week to reflect and take care  of  your body, not only just by drinking water and exercising but also by treating it like you could die tomorrow and wont’ get time to actually have that nice and relaxing feeling.


Challenge for this week: Think of a way that you love to take care of your body, whether that be by giving yourself a pedicure or manicure, taking a nice hot bath, exercising, watching a movie and giving your body a break from your busy week,give yourself a facial, have your boyfriend or husband give you a massage, etc…whatever it might be…do one thing to take care of your body this week. Once you have chosen what  you are going to do…hold  yourself accountable by telling a friend, a coworker, a family member…and make sure you do it. Remember…your body is important and you only have one, so treat  it right.


7 ways to relax

Hello my sweet sweet friends.  This blog post was supposed to go up last week, but my son was really sick and then my husband and I got really sick, so today is the first day that I actually feel like I can write and post a blog post. So I’m sitting here on a Friday afternoon.  I have my white Christmas lights on in my office, a wax warmer with an amazing smelling wax and some music.  Today we are going to talk about ways to relax, or ways to your Zen.  You know those days when you just need to sit back and relax, well here are 7 ideas or ways that you can do that…so if you want to read more…just look below….

  • Drink tea. I love drinking tea.  There’s something so soothing about having hot tea, when you just need to relax.  The process that you have to go through to make it…the picking out your favorite mug, picking out the tea you want to drink, putting water in it and just finding a cozy spot to sit and drinking it.  This is what I love to do when I’m about to read a book or just relax with a great movie.

  • Utilize aroma therapy. These can be in a form of essential oils, wax warmer, candles or diffuser.  Whatever you want to use to make your house or space smell amazing and feel cozy.  Setting the mood can really help anyone relax and feel right at home.

  • Practice mindfulness. Now I talked about this before on my blog, but it’s important to practice mindfulness.  Mindfulness as I have mentioned before is being in the moment.  So go for a walk, without your electronics, without your phone and just take in the air.  Take in the nature and just walk.  Think about things, but be in the moment, because the moments that you are in, are the moments you will remember and cannot get back. Another way I love to practice mindfulness is by coloring.  I just bought 3 adult coloring books and I can’t wait to use them.  You don’t have to be a kid to do kid things, what’s important is being in the present moment and remembering why you are here on earth.

  • Explore music. I love music…and exploring new music, new bands, new artists…is amazing.

  • Practice deep breathing. So this can be hard for a lot of people, and I admit that I’m still learning to do this, but practicing deep breathing can be very beneficial and can calm you down.  So something to try is to just take 1 minute and just do some deep breaths.  And once you are comfortable with that, you can take that up to 2, 3, 4, or 5 minutes.  Another way to do this is to meditate or do yoga.

  • Ok for all those girls out there…do a manicure or a pedicure. I love these.  I get all my things together, grab a good chick movie and just sit and do my nails.  It’s so soothing and just feels great in the end.

  • Positive thinking and Affirmation. This is something that I think people should do on a daily basis.  You should always think positive and have an affirmation or a mantra that you say.  My mantra is “she believed she could so she did,” and also “I will walk by faith, even when I cannot see.”  I’ve talked a lot about these as well, but I live by these, and I love them.  So I encourage you all to find a quote, an affirmation, a positive thinking saying that you either came up with on your own or found and remember it.  It can really help your life.

Well, I hope that you all had an amazing week last week, and that this week is great for you as well.  And something I wanted to say…Obviously with all the news and everything…be aware of what is going on, and maybe take this time to reflect on things that are happening in this world. I’m sorry for the lack of posts and for not responding to comments.  I took a break so that I could get better and my family could get better and I could get sleep.  I work outside of the home so I needed to get well rested and it’s been really hard.  But while I wasn’t blogging, I was still writing up posts, and planning what I wanted to say and talk about on this blog.  Please leave any topics you feel you want to read about.  This has been a great break for reflecting and just getting through some personal, spiritual demons, I guess you could say.

Chase after Progress…Not just Success

Hello my sweet sweet friends. I have so much to post about, and so much on my heart, but for the sake of this blog post, we are going to talk about progress and success.  How many of you strive on success?  How many of you work all the time, and always hear, “you work too much.”?  How many of you love money?  Well in order to have money, you need to be successful right?  No…that’s not necessarily true.  How many of you are truly happy with the success you have made? What would happen if you chased after progress instead of success?  Would you still be as happy?  Would you know the difference?  These are questions that I want you to think about as you read this post because you can have all the success in the world, but if you don’t see any progress…was it worth it?  If you  are not even happy…was it all worth it?

Self development is about seeing the progress that you have made… right?  What if your self development is learning to save money so that you are not overwhelmed all the time?  What if your self development is getting a good job, climbing the ladder until you are at the top?  No matter what your self development process is, no matter what you want to accomplish, you should see progress.  Maybe you want to lose weight, maybe to you that will be a success…well in order to do that, you have to do all that is required and you need to keep track of your progress because you want to see progress.  You can be as successful as you want, but if you don’t see progress in it, what was the point?  My point to all these questions is that you want to chase after progress and not just success.  I say this because progress can be measured, can be seen, improved…but success…money, can not really be improved.  Yea you could have all the money in world, but is your mind on the right track….have you seen any improvement in anything?  Maybe your self development is improving your marriage, but you are so caught up in your job and earning money to get that bonus, that you neglect your marriage…was all the money worth it in the end?  Is your marriage any better?

I know this seems all over the place but if you can try and follow along, understand, that progress over success is… in my opinion… is so much better.  It truly can make you happy…unlike success…can still leave you empty.  You don’t want to feel empty in the end, you want to feel like you have accomplished something and you want to really feel like your life is all that you have dreamed of. Let’s chase progress, not just success.

Self care 101

Hello my sweet friends and welcome to a new year.  I can’t believe that we are in the year of 2017…that’s crazy right?  Well since we are in a new year, we are to talk about self care.  Self care is what I feel everyone needs in their life. You have to take care of yourself.  How can you take care of others, or your children or your family, if you, yourself are not physically, emotionally, spiritually or mentally healthy?  How many of you feel that life seems to pass you by, and you just never have time in the day to do what you want?  How many of us get upset because we wanted to do this or that, but then by the end of the day, the one thing we wanted to do, we never got done?  So today we are going to talk about what self care is, and what it might look like for those introverts like me and all of those who are extroverts.

Self care is basically a set of practices that you incorporate into your life to feel nourished.   It’s putting aside time to recharge in a way that is meaningful to you.  This can be in a way of spiritually, emotionally, physically and mentally.   This can mean different things to different people, but whatever works for you, is what works for you.  What might work for some people may not work for other people and that is ok.  So what does this like look for an introvert like myself?

So for introverts…self care might look a little like this:



    -devotional or some kind



  etc…anything where they can be alone, and can kind of recharge without a large crowd around.

For extroverts…this might look like:

     -going to a club

     -hanging out with a group of friends

      -having a party

etc…anything that includes lots of people, being social, things like that.

All of these are ok…it’s whatever works for you.  And a helpful thing to do is figure out whether you are an introvert or an extrovert.

A rule of thumb to remember…When figuring out a self care plan..come up with 5 things…these things need to be things that can help you in that moment, or few hours…something or somethings to help calm you down and just relax your mind.

So here are mine:






Those are 5 things that I can do in a pinch if I really am stressed but I’m not home to actually sit and watch tv LOL.

So there you have it…everyone needs to take care of themselves…and invest time into taking care of themselves.
